SIESTA KEY BEACHES
Siesta Key offers three beaches: the popular Siesta Key Public Beach, as well as the more intimate Crescent Beach and Turtle Beach. Siesta Key is considered to be one of the safest beaches in the country for small children, due to the shallow depth of water near the shore as well as year-round lifeguard protection. Amenities at Siesta Key Beach include restrooms, concessions, picnic tables, tennis courts, ball fields, beach volleyball, a soccer field, a 20-station fitness trail, a playground, and free parking.
Watersports, swimming, surfing, biking, rollerblading, fishing, boating, sunset, or dolphin cruises… Siesta Key has all the opportunities and rentals you need to make the most of your tropical beach life. The island also has a lively nightlife with live music and dancing. The dynamic and popular Siesta Key Drum Circle takes place on Sunday nights to celebrate Siesta Key’s spectacular sunsets. Siesta Key is synonymous with fun and relaxation in the sun.
SIESTA KEY BOATING
With nearly fifty miles of canals and waterways, along with the surrounding bays and Gulf of Mexico, boating is one of the most popular pastimes on Siesta Key. Siesta Key offers boat rentals, charters, and guided tours. Many Siesta Key condos as well as Siesta Key waterside restaurants have boat docks.
Siesta Key Village offers many restaurants, gift shops, boutiques, galleries, and more in a relaxed and fun beach atmosphere. Siesta Key is an island of culinary delights with many restaurants specializing in seafood delicacies such as lobster, crab, blackened fish, raw oysters, and unique Gulf Coast seafood dishes. Whether you enjoy formal candle-lit dinners, ocean-side casual, or family-oriented dining, Siesta Key will suit your taste.
Siesta Key offers deep-sea fishing, bridge fishing, or surf-casting. With nearly 1,000 species of fish, you can avail yourself of year-round on-shore and off-shore fishing on Siesta Key. The Key’s saltwater fish will give you the fishing challenge of a lifetime, including barracuda, black drum, grouper, pompano, snapper, and tarpon. Fish maps and charts are sold on Siesta Key, providing you with detailed information on the times, locations, licenses, and limits for fishing on the island.
SIESTA KEY’S FAMOUS WHITE SAND BEACH
It’s estimated that the sand on Siesta Beach is millions of years old; it started in the Appalachians, flowed down the rivers, and was eventually deposited on the shores of Siesta Key. Located on Beach Road, Siesta Key Beach has received recognition for being a top-rated beach as well as for having the “whitest and finest sand in the world.” Unlike beaches elsewhere that are made up mostly of coral, Siesta Beach’s sand is 99% quartz. Even on the hottest days, the sand is so reflective that it feels cool underfoot.
