Apparently, that is exactly what is expected to happen!
Florida is adding approximately 19,000 residents each month while New York trails behind adding only 6, 200. The July 1, 2013 census estimated the population of Florida at 19.5 million and New York at 19.6 million. The states were neck-and-neck as of July 1—imagine how close they are now!
It is a very real fact that Florida could surpass New York and become the third highest populated state in America (exceeded by only Texas and California) very, very soon.
